While Orlando is a major tourist destination due to the enormous range of theme parks for you to visit, many people visit the city to enjoy the beautiful weather that Florida enjoys all year round. However, during the peak of its summer, it can get quite hot and humid making you feel sluggish if you are not accustomed to such heat.
Home to the world’s most famous killer whale, Shamu, SeaWorld is a popular destination for families. The park is the ideal location for the warm summer weather given the abundance of water activities. During the parks brand new Shamu show, be sure to sit in the Soak Zone, where you will be cooled off by the water from the tanks as the show gets going.
The park gives you the chance to get up close and personal with animals such as dolphins, beluga whales, sea lions, penguins and a host of other aquatic life. In the new penguin exhibit, you will be able to admire four different species of penguins and their natural habitat is chilly, meaning you will be too. There are also some great rides on the site such as log flumes where you can get wet while enjoying the adrenaline pumping rides.
Dolphin Racer Speedboat
Lasting 75 minutes, the Dolphin Racer Speedboat Adventure is an adventure that mixes spotting dolphins in the seas around the city while you also zip round at high speeds while admiring the city from a different point of view. The combination of the wind blowing past you as the boat speeds up and the water splashing you and the other passengers as it bounces off waves is a sure way of keeping cool.
If you happen to be unlucky enough to go on the boat and not spot any dolphins at all, then you will be given another trip for absolutely free until you do get to see the majestic animals playing in the sea.
The newest of the theme parks in Orlando, LEGOLAND Florida is the largest of its brand in the world. There is also a water park attached to the park where you can enjoy some wave pools, lazy rivers, tube slides and plenty of swimming pools. The great thing about LEGOLAND Florida is that it was designed for children aged between 2 and 12, so if you have a younger family there are still lots for them to enjoy.
Kennedy Space Centre
Flights to Orlando are bound to be a great experience for any child, but there’s one thing that can instil a sense of wonder even more strongly – space flight!
One of the most obvious ways for you to stay cool in Orlando this summer is to simply stay out of the sun! One of the best ways to do that is to head over to the Kennedy Space Centre where the family can enjoy some simulators, IMAX 3-D shows and the opportunity to admire some of NASA’s most astonishing spacecrafts.
