When you’re planning a holiday it’s important to find a nice hotel, and if a holiday to Jersey is on your list you’ll find a great selection of four-star hotels around this small island. Here we take a look at three top Jersey hotels on the south coast.
Well, what’s in a name? The Savoy in Jersey may not be anything to do with the world famous London hotel but it still has to live up to the expectations associated with that name!
The 56 bedroom Savoy is located in a great central position in St. Helier, the capital of Jersey and was originally a rather grand 19th Century townhouse. Today it’s a modern and stylish hotel that puts you right at the heart of St. Helier’s restaurants, bars, marina, shops, markets…pretty much everything, as even St. Aubin’s Bay, often considered to have the finest beach on the island, is just a walk away.
All the en-suite rooms have the obligatory TV (in this case satellite), phone, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer but there’s also a trouser press and safe. The hotel has free Wi-Fi and a guest PC should you not have your laptop or tablet with you.
As far as dining is concerned the Montana is an AA Rosette award-winning restaurant with a good menu. Al fresco dining is available at the Courtyard and there are a number of relaxing lounges and a jazz bar.
Apart from the close proximity to beaches there’s an outdoor pool and sun patio.
St. Brelade’s Bay Hotel
St. Brelade’s Bay is one of the island’s most picturesque and the next bay along from St. Aubin’s Bay. You therefore have a choice of two great beaches within a short distance. The hotel was refurbished in 2011 and has 74 en-suite rooms with free broadband access and Wi-Fi as well as the usual TV etc. All have great views, either the sea or the award-winning gardens.
The dining room overlooking Brelade’s Bay offers a choice of a la carte or set menus (that change daily) or the Petit Port Cafe provides an alternative selection of dishes as well as snacks.
Relax in the bar or lounge, enjoy the evening’s entertainment (depending on time of year) or take advantage of the new gymnasium, indoor pool and steam and spa pool. You’ll certainly be able to keep fit and pamper yourself during your holiday in Jersey.
Outside there’s a heated swimming pool as well as a children’s pool, tennis court and children’s play area. Inside there’s a children’s TV and DVD room as well as an indoor play room.
La Place Hotel
This hotel is also at located at St. Brelade’s so is a good alternative to the St. Brelade’s Bay Hotel although the bay is a little further away being about a 5 minute drive. It is however a short walk from St. Aubin’s harbour with its many bars and restaurants.
The 42 en-suite rooms with bath and shower, satellite television, phone and tea and coffee making facilities have great views either overlooking the pool or surrounding countryside. The heated outdoor pool and Retreat Bar is surrounded by gardens.
Enjoy in the relaxing Retreat restaurant, an award-winning restaurant with high standards of service and top quality dishes, many created from locally sourced produce.
